Station 16 was originally built in 1972, due to a toxic mold issue that was discovered in May of 2016, the District made the decision to close the station and replace it with a modern facility that meets current needs. The new station is approximately 12,400 square feet, including three double-deep apparatus bays.
The station serves the areas of Caufield, Clackamas Community College, Gaffney, Hillendale, Oregon City Hilltop, South End, as well as Highway 213.
The station houses a total of 19 full-time personnel. Four personnel (on each 24-hour, three-shift schedule) respond to incidents utilizing Truck 316. Two single-role paramedics (on a 12-hour, seven-day-a-week, two-shift schedule) respond to incidents utilizing Medic 316. The station also houses a battalion chief (one battalion chief on each 24-hour, three-shift schedule) who responds to incidents utilizing BC 303. At least one crew member per shift is a paramedic capable of providing advanced life support (ALS) treatment. Each shift has a company officer (lieutenant or captain), an apparatus operator, two firefighters, a battalion chief, and two single-role paramedics.
