Station 5 was built in 2003 and serves the Mt. Scott, Sunnyside, and Valley View neighborhoods, as well as the I-205 freeway and the Clackamas Town Center mall.
Heavy Rescue 305 was established in October of 2014 and is a US&R company that is stationed in the North Battalion with their US&R counterpart Truck 316 (Station 16 in Oregon City) that’s stationed in the South Battalion. Their US&R disciplines are Rope Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, Vehicle Extrication, Machinery Extrication, Trench Rescue, and Structural Collapse Rescue. The Heavy Rescue is a stand-alone apparatus at Station 5 that responds to all significant events within the fire district, such as structure fires, extrications, rescues, railway incidents, etc. Their primary functions on structure fires are primary search (searching inside burning structures for civilians) and supplementing the engine and truck companies to get hoselines in play and roofs opened up.
The station houses a total of 12 full-time personnel (four personnel on each 24-hour, three-shift schedule). At least one crew member per shift is a paramedic capable of providing advanced life support (ALS) treatment. Each shift has a company officer (a lieutenant or captain), an apparatus operator, and two firefighters.
