Clackamas Fire
Clackamas Fire District serves more than a quarter million residents through 24 fire stations in Clackamas County and is the second largest fire protection district in Oregon.
Today is Volunteer Firefighters Recognition Day, and we’re taking a moment to recognize and thank the incredible volunteers who serve with Clackamas Fire District.
Volunteers have been a cornerstone of our fire service since its earliest days. Today, they continue that proud tradition by working side by side with our career personnel to help carry out the District’s mission and serve our communities.
Our volunteers come from all walks of life and contribute in many different ways. Suppression volunteers train and respond to emergency calls from Station 74 in Sandy, assisting with firefighting, and emergency medical care. Support volunteers provide critical assistance through rehab, water tender response, Chaplain services, and other essential roles. Beyond emergency response, our volunteers are an important part of the community, helping support and participate in local events throughout the year.
Whether answering an emergency call, supporting crews on scene, participating in community events, training, or helping behind the scenes, our volunteers give their time, skills, and dedication to make a difference in the lives of others.
To every Clackamas Fire volunteer, past and present: thank you. Thank you for the countless hours you have devoted to training and service, and for the many ways you give back to our communities.

Young (present) or ~ Old ( past) you have given so much to our community… Thank You for your service.
To every farmer, rancher, logger, forester, and firefighter (including all providers not mentioned who are also part of the lifeblood of the country): I, Marilyn Schmidlin, THANK YOU DEARLY for it all. For the sacrifices you make that most people will never know. The tears cried that no one will ever see. The blood shed stains that wouldn’t come out. The battles you fought that nobody heard or noticed you won or competed as best as you could. YOUR WORK MATTERS. YOU MATTER. The battles you survived that you only felt. The memories that are left that are to horrible to speak about. The countless sacrifices. The sleepless nights. The unpaid bills. The loss of body parts or loved ones. Your work matters. Your experience matters. YOU MATTER. And please please please only hear the voices of us that are beyond APPRECIATIVE for these unknowns while you continue to show up, let our thankful voices drowned out the ridicule. I pray the good outweighs the bad. That the peace that passes all understanding prevails. There are many of us who are GRATEFUL and sometimes our thanks is beyond words to express. Yet, with all this heartache I will try my best to support, encourage, and help with this very long plea. May God protect you and your families in every way. Thank you dearly for everything YOU do even if we never see it, acknowledge it, or grasp the reality of the situations. Your work matters. You matter. THANK YOU! Stay safe. Thank you for fighting the good fight. Thank you.
