Milwaukie house fire quickly extinguished by Firefighters (Photo)

Tuesday afternoon at 1:30pm, a homeowner at 5201 SE King Rd in Milwaukie, OR, saw a flash from an electrical outlet and could smell smoke in her home and called 911. Clackamas Fire District #1 firefighters arrived and found the homeowner outside and heavy black smoke coming from the front door. The Engine company made entry and found heavy smoke conditions and fire to a back bedroom spreading to an upstairs living area. Truck 2 cut two holes in the roof for ventilation and the fire was brought under control. The house along with the basement was searched and firefighters remained on scene extinguishing hot spots. The homeowner agreed to go by ambulance to the hospital to be checked and no firefighters were injured. Fire Investigators are on scene to determine a cause.

It is unknown if smoke alarms alerted the home owner but remember to always have working smoke alarms in your home. They will awaken you at night while you are asleep but also alarm you if a fire starts in a back bedroom when you are at home.
