Minimum

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • 4 years of full-time career firefighting experience
  • Valid NFPA Firefighter I certification issued by DPSST, IFSAC, Pro-Board or equivalent

  • EMT Basic, Intermediate, or Paramedic state or NREMT certification
  • Successfully complete Clackamas Fire District #1 evaluation components (see below)
  • Successfully complete Clackamas Fire District #1 post-testing clearance (see below)

Preferred

  • Valid NFPA Firefighter II certification issued by DPSST, IFSAC, Pro-Board or equivalent
  • Valid NFPA Instructor I certification issued by DPSST, IFSAC, Pro-Board or equivalent
  • NWCG Firefighter Type 2 certification or above
  • Associate degree or above
  • 4+ years of full-time career firefighting experience
  • Experience in comparable-sized fire/EMS agencies
  • Experience in ranks above firefighter
  • Bilingual

Evaluation Components

Supplemental, Cover Letter, and Resume Review

  • Component Weight: 20%
  • Week of November 29, 2021

The Fire District will invite up to 100 candidates from the supplemental, cover letter, and resume review to the panel interview. In accordance with OAR 839-006-0450, the Fire District will also interview each veteran that meets the minimum qualifications for the position.
 
Panel Interviews 

  • Component Weight: 80%
  • Week of January 3, 2022

Eligibility List

  • Candidates receiving a minimum passing score of 75% will be placed on the eligible register for a period of up to 30 months.

Chief Interviews

  • Week of January 31, 2022

Offer Letters Sent

  • February 4, 2022 
  • If you receive an offer letter, please begin working to complete your post-testing requirements, if you haven’t already

Post-Testing Clearance

  • Proof of vaccination, or submission for medical or religious exemption (subject to change, based on state requirements)
  • Successfully complete the Candidate Physical Abilities Test (CPAT)
  • Oregon EMT Basic, Intermediate, or Paramedic license or reciprocity with the state of Oregon (click here for more information)
    • To qualify as a Paramedic in the state of Oregon, you must also possess an associate degree or higher
  • Successfully complete pre-employment NFPA 1582 Physical
  • Successfully complete psychological profile evaluation
  • Successfully pass background check clearance
  • Successfully complete pre-employment drug test
